New Art-A-Fair Artists Announced
March 14, 2008 – Laguna Beach, California – Two Laguna Beach locals have
been selected to join the Art-A-Fair for this summer’s 42nd season.
Richard Copeland, a 30-year resident of Laguna, will be exhibiting his oil
paintings. Copeland is primarily a self-taught artist and depicts a wide range of
subjects, including animals, sports, still life, seascapes and Western themes.
KC Horng moved to the U.S. just four years ago and to Laguna less than a year
ago. Her specialty is Chinese brush painting which she studied with masters in her
native China as well as in California.
Copeland and Horng were chosen from over 100 hopefuls who traveled from
Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego and Riverside Counties, as well as many other states,
including Hawaii, Nebraska, Texas, New York, Arizona, Washington, and Nevada. A total
of 20 new artists were selected by the nine-person jury -- consisting of professional fine
artists and master craftsmen.
The other 18 new artists will come to Laguna Beach from other parts of Southern
California, primarily Orange County but reaching as far as Fallbrook, La Jolla, Diamond
Springs, Long Beach and Palmdale. Media represented includes watercolor, oil,
sculpture, fiber art, glass, jewelry, raku and photography.
Art-A-Fair President Rich “Scooter” Brewer said “Each year the quality of art
submitted is of a higher caliber. It was extremely difficult for the jury to select only 20
new exhibitors, but I am very pleased with their choices”.
