FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Artists Selected for 2007 Art-A-Fair
March 26, 2007 – Laguna Beach, California – Art-A-Fair officials have announced the addition of 18 new artists joining the festival this year. This will bring the total number of exhibitors to 120. Celebrating its 41st season, the show runs ten weeks -- from June 29 to September 2, 2007.
Last month, 150 hopefuls brought their work to Jury Day, and after the nine-person jury – consisting of professional artists and master craftsmen – deliberated, 18 new artists were invited to join the membership organization. Jurors use an Olympic point system that rewards excellence in conception, execution and presentation.
Madeline Smith, chair of the Membership Affairs Committee, announced the names of the new artists. From Laguna Beach and other parts of the county are: Nathan Fischer, sculpture; Mary Aslin, pastel; Arlene Rheinish, oil; Bob Sihilling, clay; Shaun McGrath, photography; Leo Simone, watercolor; Bill Fisher, mixed media and photography; Todd Kenyon, oil; George McGhee, acrylic; Bob Johnson, jewelry; Kelvin Winters, pencil; Lynn Welker, mixed media; Brian Bell-Irving, glass; Rolando Mojica, oil. Those from outside the County are: Sharon Cannon, watercolor; Elaine Cohen, sculpture; Molly Lipsher, pastel; Andrew Fagan, sculpture; Richard Jenkins, mixed media.
In addition, three existing members were juried in with new media. They are Gary Johnson, oil; Donnell Mai, jewelry; Nancy Pace-Campbell, acrylic.
Many exciting changes are coming to Art-A-Fair this summer, including the introduction of an international theme and updates to the grounds. As in previous years, over 60,000 visitors to the festival are expected.
