I have found myself captivated by the beauty of the Southern California landscape for many years. The variety of flowers is also overwhelming. My goal when painting outdoors is to capture immediate impressions of color, light and texture in my landscapes.
I work in colored pencil and pastel to achieve the best approach to capturing the essence of California’s landscape. The use of photographs and sketches is sometimes necessary however, when conditions do not permit working from nature.
I exhibit every summer during July and August at the Art A Fair Festival in Laguna Beach, CA.
My work is collected by numerous private patrons. It has also been published by Rockport Press in books titled The Best of Colored Pencil I and II, and by North Light Book Club in a featured article in North Light Magazine.
I studied fine art at Loyola Marymount University and completed graduate studies at CAl State Long Beach.
I am a member of the Southern California Plein Air Society and the United Society of Pastel Painters. My painting is a continous process of evolution as I strive to grow as an artist through self discovery and study.
