Barbara is a native of Southern California, living most of her adult life in Huntington Beach. She has been drawing and painting since childhood and started to pursue art seriously after her children were in school. Her subject matter varies from landscapes to still life, and she always finds great joy in painting animals and birds in their natural environment. Her education includes a degree in art, completion of Certificate Programs and Independent Studies in life drawing, painting, and illustration, plus workshops and classes from individual artists who have helped in refining her technique. She has taught painting through the years and finds it to be very rewarding.
She works in many different mediums, but most predominately oils and pastels. “I like the wonderful transparency and jewel-like quality of the oil paints. I have been working with them for many years and love their versatility. Pastels are very immediate and I love the vast array of colors. By varying my subject matter and medium it forces me to expand myself and explore new ways of seeing and doing things.”
“I am influenced by the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us and find great inspiration from the painters and illustrators of the past.” This is clearly visible in her paintings, whether it is her landscapes or the small creatures and their magical little world.
Barbara has been a member of Art-A Fair for nearly 25 years. Her paintings can be found in many private collections across the United States and abroad, and have been exhibited in numerous juried shows, winning many awards. The originals and prints are available during the summer months at the Art-A-Fair Festival in Laguna Beach
