Al Gerk was born and raised in the Midwest, received a PhD in Engineering, and spent many years as an academic and industrial scientist and management professional. He and his wife, Stella, now focus on fine art photography in an effort to share their view of our surroundings in natural world.
In recent years Stella and Al have had the opportunity to travel widely through the United States, Europe, Northern Africa, and parts of the Middle East. They combine this with their passion for photography as a visual art and attempt to present a view of the cultural landscape of the land they travel. What is it about the landscape that makes its people uniquely what they are? They wish to capture more than just the beauty that surrounds them but its soul. Their photography has been show widely throughout Southern California in recent years. They have been awarded multiple 1st and 2nd prizes in recent years and have had solo exhibits at Orange Coast College and The Donald Dungan Library. Their work has been show in several galleries and is currently represented in The Artist Eye Laguna Gallery.
