About Elaine Hughes I create all of my works with a palette knife because of the beautiful texture and movement it gives to the painting. The focus of much of my artwork is on children and families. My three daughters have been the subjects of many of my paintings simply because they're beautiful...as well as convenient. I also bring a camera everywhere I go, taking photos of everyday scenes. I want my paintings to have the feeling of capturing one moment in the life of a person. The settings of my paintings are usually of the coast, which I love. I was born and raised in Southern California and have lived most of my life near the beach. Although the location can be the same, each painting will have a different feeling to it depending on the time of day and the weather.
