Judith Armstrong
San Juan Capistrano, CA
About Judith Armstrong I was given a gift in the middle of my life. I suddenly had time to pursue those things I had only dreamed of doing. My focus had always been on the basics, the job, mostly. But then my time became my own. I had always yearned to do something creative, something with my hands....and now I do. I have found my real self in my work. The act of creating enriches my life in so many ways. I find peace when hammering; it becomes a Zen thing: just me, my hammer, and the point on the copper. It becomes meditation. Applying the patinas is like magic...the outcome unexpected and exciting. When I'm casting Bronze or Silver, there is a different kind of anticipation. The faces my imagination has created come alive in the metal. Playing with the smaller castings challenges my creativity. Making beautiful things with bits and pieces is an extraordinary experience. Life is too short not to try to experience all those things we've dreamed of and never thought we' do. I decided to do them. I have found my spirit in those things come from my hands. There has been great joy in seeing what I can do. I no longer see life as serious thing. I see it as an adventure and an opportunity to grow and learn and laugh along the way. I hope you do too. |
