About Char and Larry Anderson Char & Larry Anderson are partners in love and ceramics. She is the potter and he is the glazer. They specialize in the elusive Crystalline glazes. Gorgeous crystals are grown inside the glaze during a complicated firing schedule. The meticulous 10-step process can take up to 30 hours. But even with great care, the failure rate is high, so only a few potters have accepted the challenges of Crystals. The crystalline techniques were first developed by the Art divisions of the elite European potters Royal Doulton, Sevres and Royal Copenhagen in the 1890s. Their first pieces drew excitement and acclaim at the World?s Fair Exhibitions in Paris, Chicago and Brussels. High production costs and inconsistent results forced them to stop production. We share the joy of creating these treasures. When all the parts of the process come together just right, the results are spectacular?.. sparkling crystals on smooth porcelain create a work of art that can never be duplicated.
